As they walked in the door I couldn't contain my excitement at all of Ruby's beautiful hair! Her mum said they had trouble putting headbands on because the hair sits funny (a very common problem!) but I have photographer head pieces that sit perfectly on little foreheads, bald or full-haired it makes no difference. So of course head pieces were the order of the day!
Family photos are usually up first a newborn session so that mum and dad can get them out of the way and start to relax once the focus is off them. These two were so cute, taking my directions as be the could until I started calling out "look here, look there, smile at her, maybe a kiss?" as my excitement about the beautiful photos of this gorgeous family was hitting its crescendo, they weren't sure who should kiss who and ended up in the most delightful smile/kiss/cuddle you ever saw.
While we were changing setups she was snuggling into her dads arms and every few minutes, out of nowhere came the sweetest little squeak! Oh that little squeak nearly made me clucky, let me tell you! As you can imagine, a newborn photographer that gets clucky can be a very dangerous situation. Sessions would be crazy drawn out if we spent our time professionally cuddling the little ones we should be photographing. But seriously... adorable.
Ruby was a star, sleeping almost the whole time she was here. We flew through set-up after set-up and it wasn't long before we were done with them all. A quick check of the clock revealed that we were done in record time, so I offered to do an extra setup before they headed off and so we did one of the most popular setups of 2016, the "Chalice Hands". Oh Ruby you were such a delight, I certainly hope to see you again for another round of photos when you're older!
