Fathers Day Card

If you're like me and only remember that Fathers Day is coming up when the Repco and Bunnings junk mail starts arriving (FYI it's next Sunday 6 September) then you're probably like me and have no idea what to get Dad for Fathers Day.  

Well here's an idea for something the kids can make for Dad that is easy for you and fun for them!  

Step aside Macaroni Photo Frame....

Gold and gluey... 

out of the way Laminated Bookmark.... 

Hang in there kids!

Allow me to introduce the Pop-Up Card:

TOOLS
3 pieces of A3 Cardstock 
Scissors
Glue stick
Colour pens/pencils
5x7 Printed photo and photo corners


STEPS

1. Fold 2 pieces of the A3 white cardstock in half. Take one piece and trim around 1cm from 2 edges of one piece only.


2.  Cut two slits in the centre of the smaller white cardstock 

3. Fold the opposite way to the rest of the card so that it forms a little step on the inside of the card

4. Use glue stick all over the outside of the small, cut card and stick it to the inside of the larger card ensuring the little cutout bit is still inverted. 

5. Assemble kids and colour pens/pencils. Give the kids the 3rd piece of card and ask them to draw a picture that will fit inside the card. If you have younger kids it can help to cut the card small to start with so they don't draw too big. My girls chose to draw their favourite picture of the moment. A rainbow. 

6. Let them also draw and write on the inside of the card.


7. Cut out the "special" drawing (ours was the rainbow) and glue stick it to the little step on the inside of the card

8. Attach your photo to the front of the card with the photo corners ($2.50 at Kmart, and grab a proper frame for your photo while you are there, I like this one for just $6)

Game Faces

I had a special request for this awesome family. It was a few weeks out from Game 2 of State of Origin 2015 and I had heard they were massive maroons fans, so I asked them to bring their supporters gear to the session. After we captured their beautiful family photos, we also got some great shots supporting the Queensland team. Their support obviously helped as the Queensland team won the 2015 series by the biggest margin in State of Origin history!

Sunset at the Beach

The colours from this sunset session are just so beautiful I can just see these pictures as large prints on the wall. It was the most perfect autumn evening in Brisbane, not a breath of wind about, which you can see in the family photo below where the water looks like a mirror!

This time of year is great for sunset photos in Brisbane as the sun sets around 5.30pm (ish) so you can make the most of the beautiful settings without keeping the kids up too late.

Twins Cake Smash

Oh my gosh the trouble these two get in to together! Their cute matching outfits were specially made for their session! Miss Little Smasher got straight into the cake from the start, but Mr Little Smasher wasn't quite so sure about it. Once he saw how much fun his sister was having he jumped right in too!  What a session, so much mess and so much cute!

Little Biggest Smiler

This session is so special to me because not only is this the second time I have photographed their new baby, but she gave me the little biggest smile I have ever captured from a newborn! I was beside myself capturing all these grins from Miss 10 days new - especially the last one at the bottom of this post!  

These siblings are the most doting brother and sister, this new little poppet already has two of the best friends she will ever know.
