Harper - Brisbane Newborn Photographer

I can't tell you how much I love photographing little poppets like Harper with her beautiful cheeks, perfect pout and lots of sneaky smiles throughout her session.

She was absolutely adorable snuggled in her parents arms, she slept so peacefully and was so content and relaxed. You know she probably gets it from her parents as they were both so calm with her, nothing was a bother, they are so doting and serene it was a really wonderful morning.

Can you believe that not only does this family have a beautiful new baby girl, but also a 15 week new boarder collie puppy too! Its a pretty awesome combination to be honest, I know my dog came in verrrry handy for cleanups when my girls were learning how to eat solids.  Plus, kids just love dogs, they are always the best friends and its going to be so cool that these two will grow up together.

So in a first for me, we also included fur-baby Ted in the shoot. Ive been hesitant to do this before now because I am so conscious of baby safety and I know that even the best behaved dogs can get a little flighty in a new space.

Ted was a little bigger than I imagined, but he still had that soft fluffy puppy fur with some random long pieces sticking out on his back, the cutest pink nose with freckles and such beautiful grey eyes. So to match Harper to him we did a light coloured setup with a little pink headband on her to match Ted's nose.

It worked out perfectly, Ted was so well behaved and we got their very special "sibling" photo in just a few clicks, then he was off home for lots of treats and a promised run at the park in the afternoon.

Harper slept almost the entire time she was here which meant we were able to capture all her special photos very quickly and they were out of here in time for a delicious sounding lunch on the way home.

Anjali - Brisbane Newborn Photographer

Its days like these that I absolutely love my job.

To be honest, I love my job almost every day but some days are just amazing, and that was the kind of day I had with Anjali for her newborn session.

I could tell from the moment we met that we were going to get along great. She was sleeping in her dads strong arms and was blissfully unaware that she had even come from the car to inside.

Her mum and dad were so relaxed, it was a joy to spend the morning with them all. We stared with family photos and Anjali was snuggled in the middle of a "baby sandwich" which she must have loved because she burst into the most delightful smile, oh my heart melts!

You know she was so excited to meet her parents that she arrived a little early, but I get the impression they couldn't wait to meet her either.

Her dad calls her Lenny, which I was a bit confused about. He said when they first found out they were pregnant, the doctor told them that the baby was the size of a lentil. So they started calling her Lenny and it just kind of stuck. I love that she already has a nickname, and I reckon it suits her too.

Lenny/Anjali slept nearly the whole way through the session. She was more than content wrapped in vine and flowers, she was happy floating amongst the clouds, she was cosy rugged up in a wrap with a cute little bonnet. She barely woke the whole time she was here.

We did a dark rose colour towards the end of the session and it looked so amazing with her beautiful dark features. I dont get to use this blanket too often as it is quite a strong colour for babies, but its the kind of colour that if it works for them, it works really really well!

Sleeping Beauty - Brisbane Baby Photographer

Little Ara was such a good sleeper at her session, photographing her was a photographers dream!

We love photographing sleepy babies best because they will stay put in the cosy poses we curl them into without kicking out legs or wriggling little hands into their mouths. When babies are such deep sleepers as Ara it means we are able to work through the session quickly and safely and photograph slightly trickier setups such as the hanging basket.

Her parents are good friends with one of the families I photographed last year, which is always such a treat for me to hear that my work is so well loved that families show it off and their friends will come see me too.

By the way, to thank families for spreading the word about my services I send a gift for every 3 referrals - a beautiful print product to the value of $199!

Ara's mum is from Iran, so when I showed her my new rainbow mandala she said it was a beautiful reference to her homeland.  This stunning piece was a custom order I had made and I just love it so much!

I am so excited that they will be back again soon for their sitter session. Its one of my favourite things about the job to see children grow over the first year.

The First Year Package is really popular as it is not only amazing value with loads of photos included but comes with a 14x14 inch wood block print from each session too. You can even split the package cost across all 3 sessions which makes it even easier to have beautiful milestone photos of your family during their amazing first year.

** Please note **
This is a composite image for baby safety, it is created by merging photos together in photoshop so that the newborn is never in an unstable prop or unsafe position.

Aiden - Brisbane Newborn Photographer

I was so excited to hear from this family after photographing their daughters first birthday about this time last year, they were in contact again for another family shoot, this time including their newest member Aiden!

We started off with Aiden's single photos and he was so wide awake, but so calm and settled, it was amazing to capture his gorgeous eyes, so full of interest and soul. You would swear he was older than 16 days!

I think he must have been happy to be out of "confinement" as he just loved stretching out his arms and legs every chance he got - I had to do a lot of swaddling to keep him all curly, compact and covered let me tell you!

His big sister Amanda was completely adorable giving him the most gentle and sweet cuddles, no kisses yet though, I think she might still be getting used to the idea of a new little brother.

She was so cute in the little white dress, and when she got a lolly for doing a great job of smiling she ate it so slowly, one little Pez must have lasted 20 minutes.

Amanda loved that dress too (one from my own prop collection) and when it was time to take it off, she was not too happy about it - the lower lip dropping and eye brows furrowing with the threat of tears any minute. Thankfully with a little bribery we managed to keep the tears away - just!

Aidan's Grandad was also at the shoot and although Amanda had run out of her big smiles by the time for family photos we still captured some really lovely images of Grandad and his grandchildren.

After hours of snoozing and cruising, Aiden decided that it was time for bed and became a little unsettled just as we were lining up the very last shots with his dad.  Luckily his amazing parents were right on it and settled him back to calm before we wound up the session in time for everyone to enjoy a nice quiet afternoon - hopefully with a long nap included!

Farewell - Brisbane Family Photographer

This was a very sentimental session for me. We have had a lot of sessions over the past 5 years, this lot were one of the first families I ever photographed and wonderful friends as well. It is always a lot of fun, the boys bring their hugest smiles and the love is just like a big fluffy cloud around us every time.

But this is the last session for a while as they are moving to a new country just a week after our shoot. It was bittersweet to be enjoying yet another beautiful afternoon laughing and playing with boys that i have watched and documented over the past 4 years while knowing that this will be the last one for a long time.

Dad had only just flown home that morning, and after 3 months away his boys were so excited to have him back. They were very excited and very loved up, it was amazing.

The boys were funny, as happens a lot with siblings the younger brother was not keen on hugs - probably having had more than a few too-tight ones in the past from a big brother who doesnt know his own strength!

The bubbles were a massive hit! The boys were running around screaming with laughter, little Roderick trying to pick them up from where they landed on the grass.

Being boys of course they found sticks to play with, the bigger the better! It never ceases to amaze me how much the little things in life can bring the most joy when you use your imagination.

I will miss you guys so much, your beautiful boys and your beautiful selves. Time will fly by and I have no doubt we will all be back in a park laughing away the sunny Saturday afternoons again before we know it.
