Cosy Little Man

Sometimes when a family walks in the door, you just know things are going to go well. With you have a big sister and a new little brother as adorable as these two are - I had a feeling it was going to be a special session.

I always include family and sibling photos in all of my newborn sessions. To me, family photography is about capturing all the bonds in the family as well as the gorgeous new addition.

This session was the first chance I had to photograph my new bed prop from Island Vine Designs and I couldn't be happier with the outcome.

I always keep my setups very simple so that your beautiful baby is the main focus in your photos, and this session is a perfect example of that. Little man was so cosy snuggled in the gorgeous bed, it makes me wish they came in larger sizes!

Hearts are Fuller

I adore meeting new parents! They are so in love and in awe with meeting their new baby and adapting to the new routines. Theres no way to ever prepare for how your life will change but you soon know that babies make nights longer, days shorter and hearts fuller.

Watch me grow!

It is so awesome when I get to see families grow, which is exactly what happens when you book the "First Year" package. It includes a newborn session, 6 month old session and a first birthday session all for a discounted rate - which is a good thing when your family photos are this adorable!

Mr J was recently back for his 6 month old session - and he brought ALL the smiles!

Behind the Scenes Halloween Edit

Every so often I like to stretch my creative legs and do "Fantasy Edits" like this Halloween one.

Portrait photography uses photoshop in a very restrained way. It is about retouching things to look like you never did. To fly under the radar with Photoshop so that it is the beautiful people you see in the photo and not the editing.

Fantasy Edits are a bit different. This type of editing is to merge elements together to create a photo that you know is not real but that blends so well you accept is as an artwork. Here are the elements I used to create my Halloween photo:

Wooden stool from Island Vine Designs
The background is from www.deviantart.com
The cauldron is from www.vectorhq.com
I used techniques from this tutorial:
http://design.tutsplus.com/tutorials/create-a-spooky-forest-setting-in-adobe-photoshop--cms-22332

This style of edit is something new to me and certainly just for fun, but if you like this sort of photography artwork, check out these amazing pages:

Twice the Love

Two very cute little people visited recently - and they brought their adorable big brother with them!  Thomas is the most doting and sweet big brother and the twins are going to be so lucky to have him looking out for them in years to come.

These twins are non-identical brother and sister and they arrived a little early, which meant a short stay at hospital. They were the picture of health when I photographed them at just 2 weeks old.

I love the photo of them in Dad's arms, cradles and snoozing. I always try to create images that are relaxed and comfortable both for baby and to look at.

It was such a joy to photograph this family, and the exciting thing is that they will be returning for a six month old session and a one year old session next year - I can't wait!

A lot of cute, and a few smiles!

This little man was full of smiles for Mum and Dad, it's the most precious thing to capture such special memories for families such as this.

I love the green photo on his gorgeous handmade blanket, a welcome gift from Nanna. It is always so nice to include personal items in your session as it makes for photos unique to your family.

Sibling Love

The amount of cute from these two poppets is enough to break the cute-scale!  I always have a few plans for sibling photos as there tend to be two types of older sibling. Some toddlers are more interested in everything else in the room, some love to have a cuddle with their new sibling, which these two certainly did.

This white blanket was also a very special inclusion for this family as it was mum's when she was born and we photographed it with Miss 17 moths at her newborn session.
