Its that very magical time of year when a lot of the trees around Brisbane start to turn the most stunning shades of purple. Seriously! Purple trees!!
Coming from New Zealand where we dont have these trees, I could not believe my eyes when I first saw them blooming here - it was like some kind of magic had been sprinkled over the parks.
This is why I absolutely love photographing children with these trees, they just go together so perfectly, happiness, joy and of course that sense of wonder. Its impossible to feel glum when you see smiling children and purple trees, right?
Thankfully I am not the only one who feels this way, as this gorgeous family also love the colour and wanted their family session based all around it. So we did, and oh how my heart sings when I look at these pictures!
Kalarni was first up for her portrait photos, sitting on a special little wooden stool, she was the perfect little model with the "over the shoulder" celebrity smile. Sophies red dress and blue eyes were the most amazing combination of colours, they almost jump off your screen! And Ryder couldn't wait for his turn on the special seat to have his own photos all by himself.
It's not particularly easy to photograph jacarandas, as they are quite large trees you need some good space to be able to see them behind you, but I have a couple of spots that I have found work really well for family sessions right here in Everton Park.
Unfortunately the weather can be a little unpredictable at this time of year so we did have to work around some showers during the session, but the upside of that is that the air gets crystal clear and the grass becomes so vibrant and green that it just sets off that stunning purple even more.
Ryder and his two big sisters Kalarni and Sophie didnt mind the rain at all - it just meant a chance for jumping in muddy puddles on their way back to the car.
